Mitra Sumara at Café Nadery, Saturday, June 7

Mitra Sumara, the band that plays pre-revolutionary Persian pop and funk, will perform this Saturday night, June 7, two sets, at 8 p.m. and 10 p.m., at Cafe Nadery. It’s the one-year anniversary of Café Nadery, which is at 16 W. 8th St. in Manhattan, between Fifth Avenue and MacDougal. Café Nadery serves fine food and Iranian culture. Mitra Sumara performs psychedelic and funky Iranian sounds from the 1960s and early ‘70s, with keening vocals by Yvette Perez, who sings these tunes in the original Farsi. With a combination like that, how can you miss? No cover charge, but a $15 minimum on food or drink. More information here, or at (212) 260-5407.
